Chemical industry faced a serious challenge which was the implementation of new EU legislation on chemicals - Regulation of the European Parliament and Council Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006. The Regulation took effect on 1st of June, 2007., and its provisions will be gradually implemented until 2018. REACH applies to the safe use of chemicals through their registration and assessment and in some cases, authorization and restriction of trade and the use of certain chemicals.
Introducing this regulation aims on ensuring a high level of protection of health and the environment by including the promotion of alternative methods for assessing the hazards created by substances and ensuring the free trading of substances on the internal market while enhancing competitiveness and innovation.
What REACH means:
R – Registration
  • of substances produced and imported in the amount exceeding 1 tone
E – Evaluation
  • of substances in member countries by the industry and competent offices
  • of registration documents by proper offices
A of Chemicals – Authorization (granting permissions)
  • of high attention substances (CMR, PBT i vPvB)
Who is affected by REACH?
REACH is related to the registration responsibility of a manufacturer or importer of the substance supplied to subsequent users in quantities exceeding 1 tone. However, it applies to all companies involved in trading of chemical substances, i.e.:
  • manufacturers and importers of chemical substances established in the EU
  • subsequent users producing preparations (mixtures) to the final application
  • distributors of chemical substances and preparations.
Konimpex Chemicals as a direct importer of chemicals from outside of the EU makes every effort to guarantee that the import process is consistent with the REACH Regulation. Registration of substances is carried out directly by the producers or their exclusive representatives of the EU, who in accordance with Art. 8 have available and current information on the quantities of imported and purchased substances. To meet the requirements of this area's existing legislation, all of the necessary information are communicated down through the supply chain, including our customers, by material safety data sheets of individual raw materials.

We would like to remind you that December 1st, 2010 was the day when the full registration period ended for substances over 1,000 tons per year, the substance R50 / R53 above 100 tons per year and CMR substances cat. 1 and 2 above 1 ton per year.
